During the time when the earth was young, it looked like this.
My time during covid was spent wandering ancient dunes and picking up ancient fossils, shells and bone fragments that have calcified. I even found what looked like a whale disc. This is our first ever attempt at working with resin, and the best and only resin we were able to find was for ship repairs. It cracked because I made it in a cellar during the winter of 2020. Unfortunately one is not able to see the underlying beauty of all our valuable treasures that lies buried beneath, but we attach reference pictures.
To me it carries the memory of the day I went to collect these rare and beautiful specimen found on the coastline of the southern cape province of South Africa. These ancient relics of the past are so powerful. They connect me to the past of very long ago, when the earth was still in its infancy. Imagine how it must have been to feel the wind of the ocean on one's face then. The ocean spray. The salty smell of the air. The dark blue and green hues of the waves. Flying dinosaurs catching dinosaur flying fish in the air even maybe. I love being connected to that moment.
